Sacramento Kings Vs New Orleans Pelicans February 2025

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings will face the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, looking to extend their winning streak to three games. The matchup, set for 5 p.m. PT at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, comes just days after the Kings defeated the Pelicans 128-121 in Sacramento.

After pivotal trades ahead of last week’s trade deadline, the Kings have displayed mixed results. Following two losses with new addition Zach LaVine in the lineup, Sacramento has bounced back with back-to-back wins, thanks in part to contributions from Jonas Valanciunas and Jake LaRavia off the bench.

In their last encounter, LaVine’s performance was complemented by center Domantas Sabonis and guard Malik Monk, who both made significant contributions. Despite facing notable challenges during the season, including injuries and roster changes, the Kings have shown remarkable resilience.

The Pelicans enter the game struggling with injuries. Star forward Zion Williamson, who scored a remarkable 40 points against Sacramento on Saturday, has been downgraded to questionable for the rematch due to conditioning issues. His absence would add to New Orleans’ woes, as key players like Brandon Boston and Dejounte Murray are already sidelined.

CJ McCollum, who was initially listed as questionable for personal reasons, will be available for the game. McCollum has historically performed well against the Kings, averaging 32.0 points over their last four matchups while shooting 59.7% from the field.

Williamson’s status remains uncertain. The two-time All-Star has appeared in just 17 games this season due to injury problems, including a lengthy absence earlier in the year. “He has a remarkable ability to change the game when he’s on the floor,” said Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin. “We are just being cautious to ensure he can sustain his health.”

With the Pelicans sporting a 12-39 record and riding a nine-game losing streak, they are desperate for a victory. However, Sacramento, currently at full strength, will seek to capitalize on New Orleans’ depleted lineup. Tip-off for the highly anticipated rematch is at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday in New Orleans.
