Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu: A Surprising Journey into Politics
Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu took an unexpected path into the realm of politics, propelled by an unfortunate incident back in 2012.
After completing his education in electrical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Long Island University in the US, he worked in Singapore when tragedy struck.
In November 2012, Naidu received the distressing news that his father, Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, a prominent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member, had passed away in a road accident.
Returning to India swiftly, Naidu found himself following in his father’s political footsteps, representing the Srikakulam constituency for the TDP in the 2014 elections despite not harboring prior ambitions in the political realm.
Emerging victorious in the 2019 elections, he once again secured his seat in the recent 2024 elections, triumphing over the YSRCP candidate with an impressive margin of 320,000 votes.
Marking his political journey with fervor and dedication, Naidu actively engaged in parliamentary activities, serving on various standing committees such as agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing, railways, home affairs, tourism & culture, among others.
His advocacy included championing menstrual health and sex education, challenging the taxation on sanitary napkins, and representing India at the UN General Assembly during the 22nd meeting of the First Committee on Disarmament.
A firm believer in the potential of youth in politics and nation-building, Naidu established an internship program named ‘Politics for Impact‘, offering select students the opportunity to engage in local governance within his constituency for a period of two months.
