Knicks Gear Up for Playoff Battle Against Pistons with Ewing Spotlight

Detroit, Michigan — The New York Knicks face off against the Detroit Pistons tonight in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. Before the game, Knicks legend Patrick Ewing was spotted conversing with TNT commentator Reggie Miller, who once played for the Indiana Pacers.
During the broadcast, Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley expressed his admiration for Ewing. He remarked, “The great Patrick Ewing and the great Reggie Miller. I love that man… They had some battles. Patrick Ewing is one of the nicest men I have ever met in my life.”
Ewing was selected as the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft out of Georgetown University. He played 17 seasons in the NBA, representing the New York Knicks, Seattle SuperSonics, and Orlando Magic. Over the course of his career, Ewing averaged 21.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game, shooting 50.4% from the field in 1,183 career games.
While Ewing never claimed an NBA championship, he led the Knicks to the NBA Finals twice, in 1994 and 1999, and has left an enduring legacy in the franchise. His Knick career statistics show averages of 22.8 points per game, 10.4 rebounds per game, and 2.7 blocks per game. He was an 11-time All-Star, a seven-time All-NBA selection, and a three-time All-Defensive Team member, leading the franchise in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.
Despite the accolades, Ewing remains a fan favorite for his sportsmanship and dedication. He retired after the 2002 season, ending his career with the Magic. As the Knicks prepare for tonight’s game, Ewing’s impact continues to resonate with fans and players alike.
