Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum showered praise on teammate Kristaps Porziņģis for his instrumental role in propelling the Celtics to a commanding 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals. Tatum acknowledged Porziņģis’ stellar performance in the first half, which saw the Celtics surge to a 21-point lead.

During the first half, Porziņģis showcased his scoring prowess by tallying 18 points on an impressive 7-for-9 shooting, setting the tone for Boston’s fast start on their home court. The Latvian big man’s seamless return to action following a calf injury provided a significant boost to the Celtics’ efforts.

Adding to his stellar offensive output, Porziņģis contributed on the defensive end as well, finishing the game with 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in just 21 minutes of play. Center Al Horford echoed Tatum’s sentiments, emphasizing the impact of Porziņģis’ energy and presence on the team.

Horford, who himself returned to the lineup after a prolonged absence, highlighted the inspiration drawn from Porziņģis’ performance. The Celtics will rely on both players’ contributions as they aim to secure a pivotal Game 2 victory over the Mavericks at TD Garden on Sunday, inching closer to a coveted NBA championship.
