Kyle Larson Dominates Kansas Speedway for Third Win of 2025 Season

Kansas City, KS
Kyle Larson showcased his racing prowess at Kansas Speedway, winning the AdventHealth 400 on May 12, 2025. Larson led a remarkable 221 of 267 laps, defeating Christopher Bell by 0.712 seconds. This victory marked his third win of the season and propelled him to the top of the NASCAR Cup Series points standings.
Larson’s win signifies not only personal achievement but also the resurgence of the Hendrick Motorsports team, which has all four of its drivers ranked in the top 10. Despite Team Penske’s recent dominance, the HMS Chevys are proving to be formidable competitors in 2025.
Chad Knaus, the team’s veteran crew chief, credited teamwork for their success. “We’re maturing as a group,” he stated. The effective communication and collaboration among the crew chiefs and drivers have never been better, allowing them to tackle racing challenges effectively.
Three Hendrick drivers were in contention for victory during the race, with Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman finishing strong. Unfortunately, a slow pit stop hindered Elliott’s chances, while Larson’s performance ensured his playoff spot alongside teammate William Byron.
Larson’s recent achievements also include becoming the 22nd Cup Series driver to lead over 10,000 career laps. His historic performance broke Jimmie Johnson‘s 2011 record for laps led at Kansas.
Reflecting on his commanding win, Larson acknowledged the importance of balancing performance and teamwork. “I was trying really hard to pace myself,” he noted, emphasizing his teammates’ contributions. With the playoffs approaching, Larson is now turning his focus to the Indy 500 practice and qualifying rounds.
