Kyle Richards Calls Garcelle Beauvais an ‘Asshole’ Over Lesbian Comment
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — A heated exchange between Kyle Richards and Garcelle Beauvais on *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* has sparked controversy, with Richards accusing Beauvais of being an “asshole” over a comment about her sexuality.
The incident occurred during Season 14, Episode 7, which aired on January 14, 2025. During a conversation about personal authenticity, Beauvais told Richards, “If you want to be a lesbian, be a lesbian.” Richards later revealed she took issue with the remark, calling it unnecessary and provocative.
“What was really going through my head was, ‘You’re being an asshole right now,’” Richards said in a recent interview. “Don’t try to act like, ‘Oopsy daisies,’ you know exactly what you’re doing. I was thinking, ‘If you’re thinking you’re going to get a reaction from me or I’m going to be offended, I’m not.’”
Beauvais, however, defended her comment, insisting it was not meant to be malicious. “I wasn’t saying it to be malicious,” she explained. “It was more about, we’re powerful women, we can be whatever we want to be. So, it wasn’t a dig. It was just, almost to inspire her to do whatever she wants to do.”
The actress, known for her role in *Black Girl Missing*, also addressed Richards’ reaction, noting that the two laughed about the exchange afterward. “I heard that. It’s so funny because we laughed about it afterward,” Beauvais said. “So for her to say that was pretty shady. But, you know… I don’t take it back.”
Beauvais further elaborated on her intentions during the *RHOBH After Show*, emphasizing the importance of self-authenticity. “Where I was coming from that night when I said it, it was about, ‘We are grown-ass women. We’re people’s mothers. We’re people’s grandmothers,’” she said. “What I was saying is ‘Be whoever you want to be.’ I’m not trying to call her out. Own it. Be authentic.”
The exchange has become a focal point of the season, with fans debating the intent and impact of Beauvais’ comment. *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo and is available for streaming on Peacock.
