Late drama unfolded in Bamako as Ghana secured a crucial victory over Mali in a World Cup qualifier. The Black Stars faced relentless pressure but managed to snatch a 2-1 win courtesy of a late goal by Jordan Ayew.

In a tightly contested match, it was Mali who struck first on the stroke of halftime through Kamoury Doumbia’s deflected shot. Ghana fought back in the second half, with Ernest Nuamah heading in the equalizer.

Both teams made substitutions and created numerous chances, but it was Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew who capitalized on a loose ball in extra time to seal the victory for Ghana.

With this result, Ghana moved up to second place in the table, level on points with Comoros. Mali now sits in third, tied with Central African Republic, while Madagascar is in fifth.

The Black Stars will face Central Africa Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their next match.
