The match, which took place on Tuesday, October 29, saw Siegemund secure a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Uchijima in a contest that lasted 1 hour and 44 minutes.

Siegemund’s performance was marked by her aggressive play, converting 63% of her break points (5 out of 8) and scoring 73 points to Uchijima’s 66. She also managed to save 75% of the break points she conceded, highlighting her strong defensive game. Siegemund hit 32 winners during the match, significantly outpacing Uchijima’s 11 winners.

This win sets up a second-round match for Siegemund against Tamara Korpatsch, another German player. This will be their third encounter, with Siegemund leading the head-to-head 2-0. However, it will be their first meeting on a hard court surface. The last time they played, Siegemund won 6-2, 6-2 in the second round at Bad Homburg in 2021.

Siegemund’s current form is promising, with a 26-20 win-loss record in 2024, including a 14-10 record on hard courts. Her best result this year was reaching the final in Hua Hin. The upcoming match against Korpatsch is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, at 1:00 PM on Court 1.
