LOS ANGELES, Calif. — LeBron James will suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday against the Brooklyn Nets despite nursing a foot injury, according to Khobi Price of The Orange County Register. James, who had been listed as probable, is expected to see increased usage with teammate Anthony Davis sidelined due to a foot injury.

James has been managing injuries throughout the season, but his availability has remained consistent. The Lakers, currently navigating a challenging stretch, will rely heavily on his leadership and production. Davis’ absence further amplifies the need for James to step up, particularly in scoring and playmaking.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with their own injury woes. Forward KJ Martin has missed the last eight games due to a foot injury, last playing on December 23 in a win over the San Antonio Spurs. Head coach Nick Nurse provided an update on Martin’s status, noting progress but no imminent return. “He’s out of the boot,” Nurse said during pre-game media availability. “But still not on the court yet. So, some progress but not a lot.”

Martin, acquired in the James Harden trade with the LA Clippers last season, has seen an expanded role this year. In 24 games, he has averaged 6.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 38.1% from three-point range. His absence has opened opportunities for younger players like Ricky Council IV and Justin Edwards to contribute.

The Sixers will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, with Zion Williamson leading the visiting squad. Philadelphia continues to adjust its rotation as it aims to maintain competitiveness in the Eastern Conference.

Injuries have been a recurring theme across the NBA this season, impacting team strategies and player development. As the season progresses, teams like the Lakers and Sixers will need to balance recovery with performance to stay in playoff contention.
