LeBron James, Stephen Curry Lead 2025 NBA All-Star Game Starters
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The NBA revealed the 10 starters for the 2025 All-Star Game on Saturday, Jan. 25, with veteran stars LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Nikola Jokić headlining the list. The game, set for Feb. 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco, will feature a new four-team, three-game mini-tournament format.
Fans, players, and media determined the starters, with fan votes accounting for 50% of the decision, while current NBA players and a media panel each contributed 25%. The starters include three frontcourt players and two guards from each conference. The reserves, selected by NBA head coaches, will be announced on Jan. 30.
For the first time, the All-Star Game will adopt a tournament-style format. Four teams of eight players each will compete in three games, with the winners of the semifinals advancing to a championship game. Each game will be played to 40 points, and the winning team will share a $1.8 million prize pool.
The teams will be drafted by TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith, who will serve as honorary general managers for their respective squads. A fourth team, Team Candace, will feature the winners of the Rising Stars Challenge, led by WNBA legend Candace Parker.
The event marks the first time the Bay Area has hosted the All-Star Game since 2000. Chase Center, the Oakland Arena, Moscone Center, and Pier 48 will all host festivities throughout the weekend, which runs from Feb. 14-16. The Warriors’ Stephen Curry, a Bay Area icon, was named a starter for the Western Conference.
“The game will act as the culmination of a weekend of festivities that spans both sides of the Bay,” said a spokesperson for the Warriors, referencing the team’s history in Oakland, where they won three championships before moving to San Francisco in 2019.
In addition to basketball, the weekend will feature performances by major musical acts, drawing fans from across the country. The NBA’s decision to host the event in San Francisco and Oakland highlights the region’s significance in basketball history and its vibrant cultural scene.
