Leonardo DiCaprio Stars in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Political Satire

LOS ANGELES, March 27, 2025 – Lewis DiCaprio takes center stage in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s latest film, “One Battle After Another,” a politically charged satire scheduled for release on September 26, 2025.

The film portrays DiCaprio as a civil rights activist who becomes entangled with an anti-government organization while confronting an “alt-right” white supremacist group. The cast also features Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Alana Haim, and Sean Penn, with Benicio del Toro playing a pivotal supporting role.

Anderson, known for his unique storytelling style, wrote and produced the film alongside Sara Murphy and the late Adam Somner. Shot on 35mm film using VistaVision cameras, this marks Anderson’s return since 2021’s “Licorice Pizza.” The film boasts a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes and is reported to draw inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s 1997 novel “Vineland,” which explores themes of radicalism and disenchantment in contemporary society.

The novel’s synopsis describes a so-called “zone of blessed anarchy in Northern California,” suggesting that Anderson’s film will similarly explore themes of rebellion and social chaos. According to the narrative, DiCaprio’s character, Bob, grapples with the contradictions of activism and personal responsibility as he aims to save his daughter.
