Lewisburg High School Baseball Team Gears Up For 2024 Season With Strong Roster

The Lewisburg High School baseball team is anticipating an exciting 2024 season, coming off a successful 2023 campaign which saw them clinch the 6A State Championship at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Head Coach Rusty Cagle is enthusiastic about the team’s prospects as they return a strong roster of players.

Notable returners for Lewisburg include seniors Cooper Bennett, Austin Hannigan, Sam Richardson, Trae Cagle, Easton Fesmire, Cayden Baker, Matthew Osteen, and Gunner Gilmore, alongside juniors Talon Haley and Kody Gilmore.

The Patriots boast a talented pitching staff, highlighted by standouts such as Cayden Baker and Talon Haley. Offensively, Austin Hannigan leads the way after hitting .360 last season, with support from Garrett Gilmore, Cooper Bennett, Kody Gilmore, Trae Cagle, Sam Richardson, and Easton Fesmire.

On the mound, Baker and Haley form a formidable duo, with reliable arms like Garrett Gilmore, Matthew Osteen, and Stone McCaughey adding depth to the pitching rotation. Additional contributors include seniors Matt Magee, Caleb Staggs, and Logan Churchill, along with junior Preston Sowell and sophomores Cooper Bierman, Colson Alexander, Caden Nelson, and Cade Sanders.

The Lewisburg Patriots are set to kick off their regular season on February 17th with a match against Kossuth, aiming to build on their previous success and make a strong push in the 2024 season.
