Lil Wayne’s New Song Debuts Before ‘Tha Carter VI’ Release

New York City, NY – Lil Wayne is making waves just hours before the release of his new album, ‘Tha Carter VI.’ ESPN has premiered the rapper’s latest hit, ‘The Days,’ as part of its marketing campaign for the NBA Finals. The song will be featured across ESPN platforms and in the broadcast of Game 1, which will see the Oklahoma City Thunder face off against the Indiana Pacers.
‘Tha Carter VI’ is set to be released on Friday, June 6, and Wayne expressed his excitement for the collaboration. “Basketball’s been in my blood since day one so to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of ‘Tha Carter VI’ for the NBA Finals is an incredible honor,” he stated. “My music and the NBA are vibin’ on the same frequency because it’s perfect timing for fans to hear ‘Tha Carter VI’ on the game’s grandest stage.”
This partnership marks ESPN’s first major integration of Wayne’s music during the NBA Finals, following previous collaborations during the playoffs with his tracks ‘I Am Not a Human Being,’ ‘Uproar,’ and ‘Glory’ remix. Curtis Friends, Vice President of Sports Marketing at ESPN, noted, “Lil Wayne brings the energy, edge, and emotion that define the NBA Finals. Integrating his music into our NBA Playoffs coverage has been a strategic brand flex – amplifying our storytelling and connecting with fans as we showcase today’s rising stars on the league’s biggest stage.”
Fans can look forward to hearing ‘The Days’ during the broadcast of Game 1, scheduled for tonight at 8:30 p.m. on ABC. The song is part of a larger body of work from Wayne that features new music and collaborations, showcasing his artistic evolution as he prepares for the album release.
