Lincoln Riley on USC’s Injury Report and Keys to Victory Against Washington Huskies
USC Trojans coach Lincoln Riley is facing a challenging week as his team prepares to face the Washington Huskies on Saturday, November 2. The Trojans are dealing with several key injuries, particularly in the defensive backfield. Defensive backs Kamari Ramsey, Jaylin Smith, Jacobe Covington, Greedy Vance, and defensive tackle Nate Clifton are all listed as “questionable” for the upcoming game.
Riley expressed optimism about the players’ recovery, stating, “I don’t believe any of them are out long term. I don’t know that there’s any of them today that are full-go, no doubt are going to play but I do think they are all progressing in a very positive way.” However, he acknowledged the uncertainty of their availability for the game against Washington.
The Trojans are looking to build momentum after snapping a three-game losing streak with a 42-20 win over Rutgers. Riley emphasized the importance of maintaining a high scoring pace, as the Trojans scored more than 40 points for the first time since their 48-0 win over Utah State on September 7. He also highlighted the need to continue utilizing running back Woody Marks, who has been a crucial asset for the Trojans’ offense.
Riley also reflected on the familiarity with Washington’s new coach, Jedd Fisch, who previously coached at Arizona. Riley praised Fisch’s work, noting that he has done a great job at Washington despite significant roster turnover. The game, set to kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT at Husky Stadium, will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
In addition to the injury concerns, Riley must address play calling errors that have impacted the Trojans in late-game situations. The team is seeking its first road conference win, currently standing at 0-3 on the road in Big Ten games.
