Lions Re-sign Veteran Wide Receiver Tim Patrick for 2025 Season

Detroit, MI — The Detroit Lions have officially re-signed veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick, the team announced on Friday. Patrick’s return marks a significant addition to the Lions’ roster as they prepare for the 2025 NFL season.
The 31-year-old wide receiver had a productive 2024 season with the Lions, finishing with 33 receptions for 394 yards and three touchdowns. After spending the previous two seasons sidelined due to injuries, including a torn ACL and ruptured Achilles, Patrick found a role on the Lions’ high-powered offense after signing with the team in late September 2024.
Patrick’s first touchdown as a Lion came on a 3-yard pass from quarterback Jared Goff during a game against the Chicago Bears on December 5. He followed that up with a second touchdown, showcasing his ability to contribute when it matters most. These were his first NFL touchdowns since 2021, when he played for the Denver Broncos.
“He’s a pro— the way he prepares, the way he works, the type of teammate he is,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said in an October interview. “He’s long, he’s got a catch radius, he blocks downfield, he’s got good, strong hands. He brings something we don’t have, which is music to your ears if you’re building an offense.”
Patrick had previously faced two significant injuries in the 2022 and 2023 seasons while on the Broncos’ roster, making his resurgence in 2024 all the more noteworthy. His steady performance helped the Lions achieve a franchise-best 15 wins.
The Lions have now maintained their top four wide receivers from last season, including Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Kalif Raymond. However, only St. Brown is under contract beyond the 2025 season, indicating that the Lions could still be looking for long-term solutions in their wide receiver corps.
As the team prepares for a promising 2025 season, Patrick’s presence adds depth and experience to a lineup that is positioning itself as a playoff contender.
