Liverpool Signs Federico Chiesa from Juventus
Liverpool Football Club has officially announced the signing of Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus on a long-term contract. The transfer, which was made public on August 29, 2024, involves a deal worth 12 million euros, along with an additional 3 million euros in performance-related bonuses.
Federico Chiesa, who is 26 years old, has been an impactful player, despite suffering a significant knee injury in 2022 that kept him off the field for ten months. He made a strong comeback in the last season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Juventus.
Chiesa’s transfer marks a significant addition to Liverpool’s attacking options, complementing existing talents such as Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez. In his time at Juventus, he demonstrated versatility, operating primarily as a winger but also effectively playing through the center and scoring a total of 32 goals in 131 matches.
Expressing his excitement about joining Liverpool, Chiesa stated, “I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When sporting director Richard Hughes called me and the coach Arne Slot expressed his interest, I said yes immediately.” His enthusiasm was further conveyed through a video on Instagram where he mentioned the emotional significance of playing for such a historic club.
Chiesa’s arrival follows recent changes at Juventus, where new manager Thiago Motta restructured the squad. As a result, Chiesa, alongside other significant players, was deemed surplus to requirements, leading him to seek new opportunities at Liverpool.
This signing presents a promising addition for Liverpool as they aim to enhance their squad depth ahead of the competitive seasons in the Premier League and Champions League.
