Lizzo Apologizes Again to Seth Meyers’ Dad on Late Night Show

New York, NY – Lizzo made a memorable appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on April 9, where she publicly apologized to host Seth Meyers’ father, Larry Meyers, for previously calling him a derogatory term during a drinking segment.
During the segment, the singer recounted her early career struggles and expressed her desire to make amends for the past insult. “It’s been nearly three years, and I’m still apologizing for calling him a b**ch,” Lizzo told the audience.
The incident occurred during a December 2022 episode, where Lizzo jokingly growled the insult while on a phone call with Seth’s dad. The surprising remark left Seth speechless, prompting uncomfortable laughter from the audience.
To make up for her comment, Lizzo sent flowers to Larry Meyers’ home with a note that read, “Dear Larry, I’m sorry I called you a b**ch.” On the show, she reconvened with Seth and made a joke about not repeating her mistake. “I’ll call him, but I won’t call him a b**ch,” she said.
In a follow-up call to Larry, Lizzo sweetly introduced herself, saying, “Hey, I love you so much, um, this is Lizzo, I miss you so much…” She humorously whispered to Seth that he should insult his dad again, leading to further laughter.
Seth recalled a recent encounter with Lizzo at the Met Gala in 2023, where she playfully indicated she might not have been ready to meet him, suggesting she was still feeling the effects of their earlier drinking session. “You were not ready to see me,” Meyers noted fondly. To which Lizzo admitted, “I was probably drunk. I probably never, ever recovered.”
As Lizzo prepares for her fourth appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, she excitedly interacted with the studio audience, showcasing her outfit from her Yitty brand. She expressed nervousness about performing live, saying, “20,000 people? I’m a bad b**ch. 150 people? You can smell me, b**ch!”
When asked about her experience with fame, Lizzo reflected, “People conflate fame and rich, which is just not true. Some people are famous and they are not rich. Some people are rich and they don’t have fame. I have both. So to be honest with you, I can’t complain.”
Lizzo is set to release a new album soon, stating that it is officially complete, though no release date has been provided yet. In the meantime, fans can enjoy her playful and candid interactions on shows like “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
