Loons Face Tough Challenge Against Whitecaps in Black Excellence Game

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota United FC, riding an eight-game unbeaten streak, is set to face the Vancouver Whitecaps in the highly anticipated Black Excellence Game at Allianz Field on April 27, 2025. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.
The Loons currently sit third in the Western Conference with 16 points and are determined to elevate their performance against the league leaders, the Whitecaps, who have claimed 20 points this season and currently sit atop the Supporters’ Shield standings.
Vancouver comes into this match following an impressive string of results, including a solid performance in the Concacaf Champions Cup and a league unbeaten streak of four games. Although the Whitecaps have a challenging schedule, with a crucial CCC semifinal matchup looming, they remain a formidable opponent for Minnesota.
In an effort to rally fans, Minnesota United invites supporters to join the inaugural Wonderwall March to the Match, meeting at the The Calling loon sculpture at 12:45 p.m. before marching to the Bell Bank SW Entrance of the stadium.
This week, Minnesota United is also debuting its first-ever Artist Collection featuring local artists, including Antione Jenkins, who will showcase his work during the event.
Additionally, the pregame festivities will see performances of U.S. and Canadian national anthems, with several community members honored, including Amal Ali from Abbott Northwestern Hospital as the Allina Scoreboard Keeper of the Game.
As the match approaches, excitement builds, reflecting not only each team’s position on the leaderboard but also their aspirations for the season. Coach Jesper Sørensen of the Whitecaps acknowledged the challenge of playing Minnesota, stating, “We’re not here to celebrate Messi. We’re here to do whatever we can to see if we can move on.”
Both teams are expected to deliver a thrilling clash, and fans are eager to witness which side will emerge victorious after the final whistle.
