Lord Ram’s Idol Revealed Ahead of Ram Mandir Inauguration in Ayodhya
The face of the idol of Lord Ram, known as Ram Lalla, at the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi temple was revealed on Friday. The image of the idol, which is said to have been released by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), showcases Ram Lalla in a standing posture, holding a golden bow and arrow. This comes just three days before the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony scheduled for January 22 in Ayodhya.
Earlier today, another picture was circulated, showing the idol made of black stone with its eyes covered by a yellow cloth. Sharad Sharma, an office-bearer of the VHP, mentioned that the idol of Lord Ram arrived at the temple on Wednesday night. It was sculpted by Arun Yogiraj, a renowned artist from Mysuru.
On Thursday, the new idol of Lord Ram was placed in the sanctum sanctorum or ‘Garbha Griha’ of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple amid the chanting of prayers, as confirmed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust. Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has stated that all necessary arrangements have been made for the upcoming ceremony.
The grand ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony is expected to take place on January 22, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries in attendance. The consecration is set to begin at 12:20 pm and conclude by 1 pm the same day, according to Champat Rai, the general secretary of the temple trust. The rituals for the consecration started on January 12 and will continue for a total of seven days.
Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, holds immense spiritual, historical, and cultural significance for the people of India. The inauguration of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple marks a significant milestone in the country’s history and will be a momentous event for millions of devotees from around the world.
