Louisville Basketball Eyes Record Streak Against Struggling Georgia Tech
ATLANTA — The No. 22 Louisville Cardinals (16-5, 9-1 ACC) aim to extend their 10-game winning streak Saturday against Georgia Tech (9-12, 3-7 ACC) at McCamish Pavilion. Tipoff is set for 3:45 p.m. ET, with the game airing on The CW.
Louisville, led by second-year coach Damon Stoudamire, has dominated recent matchups, winning eight of the last 10 against the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech, ranked 143rd in the NET, has struggled this season, losing five of its last six games and going 0-10 in Quad 1 and Quad 2 contests.
“We have a very tough opponent tomorrow at Georgia Tech, extremely dangerous,” Stoudamire said. “They play very well at home, and we know we have our work cut out for us.”
Louisville enters as an 8.5-point road favorite, with the over/under set at 149.5 points. KenPom.com and BartTorvik.com both predict a 79-70 victory for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals’ success has been fueled by disciplined shot selection, focusing on three-pointers and shots at the rim. During their 10-game streak, 14% of their shots have come from the corner beyond the arc, where they shoot 43%. Key players like Khani Rooths (60% on corner threes) and James Scott (78% at the rim) have been instrumental.
Louisville’s most-used lineup—Chucky Hepburn, Reyne Smith, Terrence Edwards, James Scott, and J.J. Traore—has a plus-minus of +99 over the past 10 games. The team also excels out of timeouts, ranking 21st nationally with 1.01 points per chance.
Despite the streak, Stoudamire remains focused on the present. “We’re just trying to be great at the next thing we do,” he said. “That success in the past is over. If we’re not ready to play against Georgia Tech, we’re going to get our butt kicked.”
For Louisville, the game marks a homecoming for Atlanta native Terrence Edwards, who scored 18 points in their last outing. The Cardinals look to continue their momentum as they face a stretch of struggling ACC opponents.
