LSU Tops Poll Again as Conference Tournaments Begin

Gainesville, Florida – As the college baseball postseason kicks off, the LSU Tigers maintain their position at the top of the rankings for the second week straight. The Tigers achieved this by winning two of three games against South Carolina, concluding their regular season with an overall record of 42-13.
Head coach Jay Johnson expressed pride in the team’s resilience during the challenging SEC schedule. Despite dropping the first game of the series to the Gamecocks in a walk-off loss, LSU bounced back with two convincing wins. Pitchers Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson both delivered strong performances, combining for nearly 14 innings of work and allowing only three earned runs.
In terms of hitting, Jared Jones made headlines by hitting four home runs over the weekend, showcasing his power as he leads the team in offensive production. The Tigers now prepare to enter the SEC Tournament where they aim to solidify their top-eight national seed status.
North Carolina also finished the regular season strong, winning a series against then-No. 5 Florida State. The Tar Heels’ Jake Knapp pitched a complete game, contributing to their overall record of 39-12. Meanwhile, Georgia successfully navigated a tough series against Texas A&M, reinforcing the Bulldogs’ postseason stature as they look ahead to next week’s tournament.
Clemson capped off their regular season with a sweep of Pittsburgh, pushing their win total to 40, while Florida State, despite a series loss, managed to secure a dramatic walk-off victory in their final game.
