BATON ROUGE, La. – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team is set to host Alcorn State at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday night. LSU, enjoying a five-game winning streak, aims to maintain their strong performance against the Lady Braves, who currently hold a 2-2 record.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network +, featuring play-by-play announcer Lyn Rollins and analyst Kent Lowe. Fans can also listen on the LSU Sports Radio Network, with Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams providing commentary.
Historically, LSU has dominated the series against Alcorn State with an unblemished record of 8-0. The last matchup took place on December 15, 2021, where the Tigers claimed a decisive 100-36 victory during Coach Kim Mulkey’s inaugural season.
LSU’s recent performance has been stellar. Following a thrilling 101-71 victory over Tulane, the Tigers have scored 100 points in five consecutive games, tying the Southeastern Conference record. Notably, last season’s LSU team, also under Mulkey, went on to secure the national championship after achieving similar scoring success.
So far this season, LSU has amassed 559 points across five games, the highest total in Division I basketball over the last 25 years. In their recent game against Tulane, the Tigers shot 55.1%, hitting 38 of 69 attempts, while Tulane managed only 28 out of 81 attempts for 34.6%. LSU’s defense forced 22 turnovers, translating those into 31 points.

Senior Flau’jae Johnson led the scoring effort with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting. MiLaysia Fulwiley contributed 20 points, while Mikaylah Williams added 16, ZaKiyah Johnson scored 14, and Amiya Joyner rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points. Fulwiley also set a new career high with eight steals, surpassing her previous record of seven in the season opener against Houston Christian.
Alcorn State, led by sixth-year head coach Nate Kilbert, will look to challenge the Tigers and disrupt their successful streak. As both teams prepare for the clash, fans eagerly anticipate seeing if LSU can continue its dominant form in the season ahead.
