Macomb Woman Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize After Heeding Intuition

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — A burst of intuition led a 25-year-old woman from Macomb County to a life-changing lottery win, claiming a $1 million prize from the Michigan Lottery’s Instant Jackpot game.
Alexandra Wilk said she is an occasional lottery player, but on this particular day, she felt a strong urge to buy a ticket. “I stopped at 7-Eleven to pick up a couple of things, and I just felt like I needed to listen to that little voice I’d been hearing all day,” Wilk recounted. She purchased her winning ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 16761 21 Mile Road in Macomb.
After scratching the ticket in her car, Wilk was stunned. “At first, I thought they had given me a prank ticket because what I was seeing – a $1 million winner – was so shocking,” she said. It wasn’t until she calmed down that she called her mother to share the news. “She broke down in tears,” Wilk added.
The substantial win has been life-altering for Wilk and her daughter. “This money is life-changing for me and my daughter. My future just got so much brighter,” she said. Wilk announced she plans on purchasing a new home and car, while also saving for her daughter’s future.
Wilk opted for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $694,000, rather than future annuity payments. This win follows the launch of the $1,000,000 Instant Jackpot game, which has awarded players over $4 million since its debut earlier in March.
“To hear how winning a $1 million prize is going to impact Alexandra’s life is inspiring,” said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Winning this prize at such a young age will have a positive impact on her future for many years to come. I wish her and her daughter nothing but the best!”
The Instant Jackpot game offers players a $10 ticket with chances to win various prizes, including two remaining $1 million top prizes, 44 prizes at $10,000, and 133 prizes at $2,000. In total, more than $50 million in prizes are still available.
Historically, players of the Michigan Lottery have won nearly $1.8 billion through instant games in 2023 alone.
