Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium: A New Cricketing Jewel in Mohali
The newly established Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium, located in Mullanpur on the outskirts of Chandigarh, is set to become a prominent cricketing destination in Mohali. The stadium, owned by the Punjab Cricket Association, boasts a seating capacity of 38,000 and has already received approvals from the BCCI and ICC for hosting international matches.
Formerly known as the new PCA stadium, this venue has already witnessed thrilling cricketing action, hosting various domestic T20 matches including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
One of the standout records at the stadium includes Jammu and Kashmir‘s impressive total of 238/2 against Arunachal Pradesh in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Ruturaj Gaikwad from Maharashtra holds the individual record for the highest score at the venue with a magnificent 114 against Kerala.
On the bowling front, Vidwath Kaverappa’s stellar performance of 5/11 for Karnataka stands out as the best bowling figures at the stadium in T20 cricket. Players like Pulkit Narang, Satyajeet Bachhav, and Vijaykumar Vyshak have also left their mark with notable performances in various matches.
Moreover, the ground has witnessed memorable partnerships like the 140-run stand between Yuvraj Chaudhary and Avneesh Sudha for Uttarakhand, showcasing the talent and potential of emerging cricketers on this stage.
