Hugo Ekitike Manchester United Transfer News

Manchester, England – Manchester United is reportedly keen on signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt as they seek to boost their attack for the upcoming season. Following a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League under coach Ruben Amorim, the club is looking to strengthen its squad.

Despite reaching the final of the Europa League, where they lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, United’s season fell short of expectations. With current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to make an impact, speculations suggest both could be sold as part of a summer overhaul.

Team sources indicate that Manchester United is planning a formal bid for Ekitike, aiming for an initial offer of around €60 million (£50 million, $68 million). However, Eintracht is reportedly holding out for a fee between €80-90 million (£67-75.5 million, $91-102 million). Ekitike’s remarkable performances last season contributed significantly to Eintracht’s success in qualifying for the Champions League.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s chief executive Markus Krosche acknowledged the club’s awareness of Ekitike’s potential, stating, “Hugo is an exceptional player who played a major role in our qualification for the Champions League. He certainly still has a lot of potential for development.” This highlights the challenge United may face in acquiring the striker.

In addition to United, other top clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle are also interested in Ekitike, complicating United’s pursuit. Furthermore, financial constraints stemming from the club’s profit and sustainability rules may hinder their ability to meet Eintracht’s asking price.

With new signings such as Matheus Cunha from Wolves and an ongoing deal for Liam Delap from Ipswich, United is already close to spending £100 million on just two players this summer. Adding Ekitike to their roster may prove difficult unless they can offload existing players.

This transfer saga continues to develop as Manchester United gears up for a crucial summer window, aiming to reshape their squad ahead of the next season.
