Manchester United Faces Hong Kong National Team in Friendly Match

HONG KONG – Manchester United will face the Hong Kong national team in their second post-season friendly on Friday. The match is set to commence at 8 p.m. local time (1 p.m. BST) at Hong Kong Stadium.
The Red Devils traveled to Asia following their recent charity match, where they suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia. Manager Ruben Amorim’s side aims to turn things around and secure a morale-boosting win against the 153rd-ranked international team.
This encounter marks Hong Kong’s first game since a scoreless draw with Singapore in Asian Cup qualifying in March. Hong Kong is coached by Ashley Westwood, a former player in United’s youth setup.
Fans can watch the match live on MUTV, with a subscription fee of £7.99 per month or £29.99 per year. Pre-match coverage on MUTV begins at midday BST, and the club’s official app will provide live updates and analysis.
United arrived in Asia with a squad of 32 players, but manager Amorim is expected to rotate his lineup. Key players including Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, and André Onana will miss the match as they travel to India to meet supporters. Alejandro Garnacho, however, is expected to feature again after his participation in the previous friendly.
For Hong Kong, the team will look to leverage its domestic players, with veteran forward Wong Wai leading the attack. Raphael Merkies, playing in the Chinese Super League, could pose a significant threat to United’s defense.
The game presents a chance for United to conclude their season on a positive note, with their last match having ended in disappointment. Amorim expressed the importance of finishing strong for the club’s supporters, stating, “We want to give something to the fans.”
As excitement builds for this friendly, both teams will aim to deliver an entertaining match, showcasing the best of their respective squads.
