Throggs Neck Double Shooting Crime Scene

THROGGS NECK, Bronx — A manhunt is underway following a double shooting that left two young men dead in the Bronx early Monday morning. Police responded to the scene on Schley Avenue, just outside Ferry Point Park, around 5:35 a.m.

Authorities say 22-year-old Gabriel Alvarez was shot in the shoulder and torso, while 29-year-old Adam Waldropt suffered wounds to his back and abdomen. Both men were taken to Jacobi Medical Center but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The assailants, described as two men wearing ski masks, fled the scene on scooters, as shown in surveillance footage released by police. The shooter’s actions occurred amid a chaotic atmosphere, with several witnesses reporting street racing and groups of people congregating nearby before the incident.

Family members of Alvarez, who had recently moved from Connecticut, struggled to comprehend the loss. His mother was seen distraught near the crime scene, seeking answers about why such violence occurred. Local residents expressed shock and concern, noting that the park is typically a family-friendly area.

In the hours after the shooting, detectives in tactical gear canvassed the area looking for evidence. They recovered 13 shell casings and five live rounds from the parking lot where the shooting took place.

The violence follows a recent trend in the Bronx, where community leaders and law enforcement had recently highlighted a decrease in shootings citywide. However, just a day prior, another shooting occurred nearby, where a 21-year-old man was injured. Police are investigating possible connections between the incidents.

“What happened this morning at Ferry Point Park was absolutely heartbreaking,” said local council member Marmorato. “There is no place for such violence in our community.” Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects, who remain at large.
