A manhunt has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a 32-year-old man in Marrickville, a busy commercial area in Sydney‘s inner west. The incident occurred on Marrickville Road around 7:40 PM on Monday, according to a statement released by New South Wales (NSW) Police.

Emergency services, including NSW Police and NSW Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a street altercation. Officers found the victim unconscious near a Guzman y Gomez fast food outlet. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, the man succumbed to his injuries on-site.

Marrickville Road, a popular eating and shopping venue, has been cordoned off between Illawarra Road and Garners Avenue as police continue their investigations. Authorities have urged motorists and pedestrians alike to avoid the vicinity as they search for evidence related to the stabbing.

The police have initiated Strike Force Nogales to probe the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. So far, no arrests have been made, and investigators are appealing to the public for any information or footage that may assist, advising witnesses to contact Marrickville Police Station or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

Reports indicate that the scene witnessed tense moments as interactions between police and bystanders, some of whom are believed to be related to the victim, turned confrontational. A police spokesperson confirmed that a taser was drawn during the incident but not used.

NSW Police have scheduled a media conference to provide further details on the ongoing investigation. The community remains on alert as police urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
