Manitoba’s Kate Cameron Advances to Semifinal at Scotties Tournament of Hearts
Manitoba‘s Kate Cameron is making waves at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary. Coming off two crucial wins in the round-robin stage to secure a playoff spot, Cameron now finds herself in the semifinals of the Canadian women’s curling championship.
In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Cameron’s Winnipeg team secured a spot in the playoffs by finishing third in Pool B with a 5-3 record. Their playoff journey kicked off with a decisive 9-4 victory over Team Canada‘s Kerri Einarson, ending the defending champion’s four-year reign at the event.
Building on their initial success, Cameron and her team continued their winning streak in the playoffs, defeating Alberta‘s Selena Sturmay 6-4 in the 3-4 Page playoff game on Saturday afternoon.
With this win, Cameron advances to the semifinal, where she will face the loser of the highly anticipated 1-2 Page playoff game between Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and Ontario‘s Rachel Homan.
The winner of the Homan-Jones matchup secures a spot in the final, where they will compete for the prestigious Canadian title at Sunday evening’s championship game.
The Scotties champion will earn the honor of representing Canada at the upcoming women’s world championship, scheduled to take place from March 16-24 in Sydney, N.S.
