Manmohan Singh Birthday 2024

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh marked his 92nd birthday on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Notable public figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various leaders of the Congress party, extended their birthday wishes, celebrating Singh’s considerable contributions to India‘s political and economic spheres.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform X to convey his best wishes, stating, “Birthday greetings to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. I pray that he is blessed with a long and healthy life.” Later, PM Modi personally called Dr. Singh to offer his good wishes.

Among the Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, paid homage to Singh’s significant role in shaping the country’s future. Gandhi remarked on Singh’s humility, wisdom, and devotion to public service, qualities he emphasized as inspirational for many Indians.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also extended his congratulations. “He stands as a rare embodiment of simplicity, dignity, and ingenuity in the realm of politics,” Kharge stated in a post on X. He praised Singh as a visionary statesman whose contributions to the nation have been invaluable.

Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, leading the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. Prior to his tenure as Prime Minister, he was the Finance Minister in Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao’s administration from 1991 to 1996, during which he spearheaded major economic reforms that are credited with ending the era of socialist policies in India.

The Congress party, in its statement, highlighted Singh’s lifetime dedication to India’s progress and welfare. They described him as a “renowned economist” and reiterated his role as an architect of the country’s economic prosperity. The party extended their birthday matters, underscoring their gratitude for his service to the nation.

Born in 1932 in a region currently part of Pakistan, Singh’s remarkable journey from an economist to one of India’s longest-serving Prime Ministers continues to be a source of respect and admiration in India’s political landscape.
