Marc Anthony Kamala Harris Endorsement

Renowned singer-songwriter Marc Anthony has publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris‘s presidential campaign in a new advertisement aimed at Latino voters. The ad, titled “Recuerdo,” highlights former President Donald Trump‘s controversial actions and statements during his term, particularly in relation to Latin American communities.

In the advertisement, Anthony, who is of Puerto Rican descent, recalls events surrounding Trump’s presidency that strongly impacted the Latino population. “Even though some have forgotten, I remember what it was like when Donald Trump was president,” Anthony states, referencing the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017 when Trump infamously tossed paper towels to Puerto Ricans affected by the disaster. The singer further mentions Trump’s derogatory remarks about Mexican immigrants during his 2016 campaign, where he labeled them as “criminals” and “rapists.”

The ad also critiques the Trump administration’s policy of separating families at the U.S.-Mexico border, spotlighting the inhumane conditions faced by many Latin American immigrants. Marc Anthony emphasizes the need for unity and representation beyond political affiliations, declaring his support for Harris: “This election goes way beyond political parties. Let’s remember what the United States represents and stands for: United. Regardless of where we’re from,” Anthony asserts.

Despite Anthony’s assertions, however, Trump continues to maintain significant support within the Latino community. A recent New York TimesSiena College poll showed 56 percent of Hispanic voters in support of Harris, while 37 percent favored Trump. In 2020, exit polls indicated President Joe Biden had garnered 65 percent of the Latino vote compared to Trump’s 32 percent.

Anthony’s endorsement is part of a broader strategic initiative to engage Latino voters through targeted TV and digital advertisements. The campaign plans to air these ads on popular networks like Telemundo and WAPA America TV, especially during culturally significant broadcasts such as the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The vice president’s campaign is bolstered by endorsements from other prominent figures including Taylor Swift, BeyoncĂ©, George Clooney, Jamie Lee Curtis, Megan Thee Stallion, Charli XCX, and Billie Eilish, among others.
