Jerez, Spain — Marc Marquez of the Ducati Lenovo Team secured his fifth consecutive Tissot Sprint victory at the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain on Saturday. The win came after a dramatic early crash by polesitter Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP on Lap 2.

Marquez led a thrilling race, finishing just over a second ahead of his brother, Alex Marquez, who rides for BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP. Francesco Bagnaia, also from Ducati, rounded out the podium in third place, earning valuable points.

Starting from pole position, Quartararo initially took the lead but faced a devastating setback when he crashed at the Dani Pedrosa corner during a competitive race against Marquez. “It was a real shame after a stunning Saturday for Quartararo,” said an analyst after the race.

After Quartararo’s exit, Marc Marquez quickly established a lead over Alex Marquez, who had moved up to third place from fourth on the grid. With eight laps remaining, Marquez pushed his advantage to over a second, keeping the gap steady as the race approached its conclusion.

The atmosphere in Jerez was electric, with around 100,000 fans cheering for their local hero, Marc Marquez. He held off a resilient Alex Marquez, clinching victory in front of a home crowd and further solidifying his lead in the World Championship standings.

In a noteworthy performance, Bagnaia finished third, but he is still seeking more points in the upcoming Grand Prix on Sunday. Morbidelli, another Italian rider, finished fourth while rookie Fermin Aldeguer secured a strong fifth place.

As the crowd celebrated, Marc Marquez reflected on his win, stating, “It feels incredible to perform like this in front of my home fans. I’m grateful for the support and happy with how the race unfolded.” The excitement now builds as the competitors prepare for the main event, the Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. local time.
