SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Mariners capped off a dominant performance at T-Mobile Park on April 26, 2025, defeating the Miami Marlins 13-0. The victory stood in stark contrast to their recent struggles, including a series of disappointing losses.

Starting pitcher Luis Castillo led the charge, throwing six scoreless innings and allowing just one hit. The Mariners’ offense exploded early, scoring six runs in the first inning against Marlins starter Connor Gillispie.

Julio Rodríguez opened the scoring with a massive home run on the first pitch he faced, sending the ball 417 feet with a speed of 112.5 mph off the bat. Jorge Polanco followed with another home run, a 355-footer, putting the Mariners ahead early.

The offensive onslaught continued as Cal Raleigh extended the inning, drawing a ten-pitch at-bat. Luke Raley reached base with a bunt, loading the bases for Ben Williamson, who also contributed to the scoring. “Kevin Seitzer treated me well before the game,” Williamson commented on his performance.

In the second inning, the Mariners added another run when Raleigh hit a double, which was originally set to score Polanco but was interrupted by fan interference. Raley later scored on a sacrifice fly, increasing the lead to 7-0.

The Mariners kept up the pressure as reliever George Soriano took over, allowing more runs. Raley secured three hits, three runs batted in, and a walk throughout the game.

“It felt great to get back on the winning side after some rough outings,” Raley said post-game, reflecting on the team’s performance.

In the bullpen, Troy Taylor made a smooth return from Tacoma, working around a single to keep the Marlins scoreless in the seventh. Casey Legumina and Tayler Saucedo also continued the strong pitching through the eighth and ninth innings.

The Mariners added three more runs in a late-game surge against position player Javier Sanoja, with Mitch Garver launching a two-run homer in the seventh inning, his first of the season. “It’s always nice to score extra runs, especially after the games we’ve had lately,” Garver noted.

The Mariners finished the game with a total of 13 runs, proving to fans that they can still deliver explosive performances at home.
