LOS ANGELES, CA — Mariska Hargitay, best known for her role in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” announced on May 28, 2025, the launch of her production company, Mighty Entertainment. This new venture will include both scripted and unscripted divisions.

Mighty Entertainment’s first project is “My Mom Jayne,” which marks Hargitay’s directorial debut. The documentary premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and is set to screen at the Tribeca Film Festival next month. It will also be available on HBO starting June 27.

Hargitay expressed her vision for Mighty Entertainment, stating, “At Mighty Entertainment, we aim to tell stories that connect us to our courage, curiosity, and compassion. We will challenge perspectives and shed light, all in the service of exploring our shared humanity.”

The new team at Mighty includes Lauran Bromley as vice president, Trish Adlesic as head of documentary, Melissa Robyn Glassman as head of scripted content, and Sophia Erensel as director of operations. Peter Hermann, Hargitay’s husband, will serve as creative director. This team previously collaborated on the Emmy-winning HBO documentary, “I Am Evidence,” which highlighted the untested rape kits issue in the United States.

<p"It has been a privilege to amplify underrepresented voices," Hargitay said. "This personal mission will extend to this company as we explore universal themes from personal narratives."

The name “Mighty Entertainment” carries personal significance for Hargitay, as it was inspired by a nickname given to her by actor Jack Nicholson during her 20s. She added, “It feels like such a natural progression to start this production company after years of telling stories on ‘SVU.'”

The company aims to produce films and television projects that focus on important societal issues, particularly those affecting marginalized communities. Hargitay noted, “There are countless stories to tell that are essential to our humanity. I want to elevate different voices and provide hope through storytelling.”

“My experience making ‘My Mom Jayne’ has truly highlighted how the personal can resonate on a universal level,” she remarked. Fans can look forward to seeing the results of Mighty Entertainment’s endeavors in the coming months.
