Marvel Rivals, the popular free-to-play superhero team-based PvP shooter, is offering players a chance to snag a free Jeff the Land Shark Avatar Decoration on Discord. The cosmetic item is available through the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Discord Quest, which runs from January 10 at 12 AM CT to January 16 at 7 AM CT.

To unlock the avatar, players must complete a simple quest: play Marvel Rivals for 15 minutes while having Discord open. The quest must be accepted on the Discord app beforehand to ensure progress is tracked. This limited-time reward is part of the game’s ongoing efforts to engage its growing player base, which has already surpassed 20 million users since its December 6 launch.

NetEase, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, recently addressed concerns over false bans issued to players using compatibility layer programs. In a statement on the game’s official Discord, the company apologized for mistakenly flagging non-cheating players and lifted the bans for those affected. “We sincerely apologize for this situation and want to assure you that we do not and will not ban players who are playing fairly and without cheating,” NetEase said.

NetEase has invested significant resources into enhancing its detection systems and has urged players to appeal bans they believe were issued in error.

Marvel Rivals has quickly become a smash hit, with 10 million players joining within three days of its launch. On Steam, the game peaked at 480,990 concurrent players, placing it among the platform’s top five most-played games during its launch weekend. The game is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
