MASN+ Launches, Offering Orioles and Nationals Fans Streaming Options

BALTIMORE — The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) officially launched its direct-to-consumer streaming service, MASN+, on April 21, 2025, giving Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals fans a new way to watch their favorite teams without a cable subscription.
The new service, which costs $19.99 per month or $89.99 for the remaining 2025 regular season, allows subscribers to stream games directly through MASNSports.com or the MASN app available on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku.
“We’re well aware that this is something that has been a gap for our fans,” said Catie Griggs, the Orioles’ president of business operations. “Fans haven’t been quiet that this is something that they’ve been wanting. Definitely early on, it was an obvious thing that we knew we were going to need to address.”
With the launch of MASN+, the two teams become part of a growing trend among Major League Baseball franchises that are increasingly moving towards direct streaming options for fans who have cut the cord. This service also lifts previous blackout restrictions for in-market viewers, allowing them to enjoy all available Orioles and Nationals games.
Greg Bader, MASN’s Executive Vice President and General Manager, emphasized the service’s importance, stating, “Our goal is to connect all fans to the excitement of Orioles and Nationals baseball. MASN+ allows O’s and Nats fans throughout the Mid-Atlantic who have elected to cut the cord to view their favorite team’s games.”
Fans have expressed relief and excitement about the dearth of streaming options. This new offering follows years of discontent among fans who have struggled to find ways to watch their teams without traditional cable packages.
In recent years, MASN’s subscriber count has reportedly dropped from 5.6 million in 2018 to 3.3 million in 2023, prompting the network to explore new avenues to attract and retain viewers. The introduction of MASN+ comes as the Orioles have seen an increase in TV ratings amidst a renewed competitive spirit following a lengthy rebuilding phase.
“It was really important to us to get this as soon as possible, and we’re excited that we’re getting to launch on an off day,” Griggs added. “Tuesday we get our two teams to play each other.”
As the future of regional sports networks remains uncertain, MASN is taking proactive measures to retain its audience by adapting to modern viewing preferences. The organization aims to provide subscribers with additional content, including team classics and enhanced programming that focuses on player access and in-depth analysis.
The launch of MASN+ marks a significant shift in how local MLB teams engage with their fan bases, potentially paving the way for similar services across the league.
