LOS ANGELES, CA — Matthew Lawrence, who played the beloved middle child in the 1993 classic “Mrs. Doubtfire,” is back in the spotlight as he reflects on his journey in Hollywood. Now 44, Lawrence has ventured into new projects, including reality TV and podcasting, nearly three decades after his notable breakout role.

In “Mrs. Doubtfire,” Lawrence portrayed Christopher Hillard, the son of Robin Williams’ character, Daniel Hillard. While the film remains a favorite for many who grew up in the 90s, Lawrence has engaged in a range of projects since then, despite early challenges in Hollywood.

Lawrence started his acting career at a young age, appearing on the soap opera “Dynasty” and in films like “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and “Tales from the Darkside: The Movie.” He even lent his voice to the English dub of Studio Ghibli’s “Kiki’s Delivery Service.” After “Mrs. Doubtfire,” which topped box office charts with over five million admissions in French cinemas, Lawrence’s path became less clear-cut.

Many expected Lawrence to solidify himself as a Hollywood mainstay. However, he often found himself in smaller roles. He starred in the sitcom “Boy Meets World,” but was unable to transition into major film projects, frequently taking parts in lesser-known productions. Notably, he headlined the horror-comedy “Big Monster on Campus,” which featured a young Ryan Reynolds. Lawrence also made guest appearances in various popular television series including “CSI: Miami,” “Boston Public,” and “Hawaii Five-0.”

After a five-year hiatus from acting, Lawrence made a return to television in 2022 with a stint on the reality cooking competition “Worst Cooks in America.” The following year, he co-founded the podcast “Brotherly Love,” alongside his siblings, and formed a musical group called “Still Three.”

Reflecting on his career, Lawrence remains grateful for his early success. He said, “‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ opened so many doors for me, and while the journey has had its ups and downs, I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want to do with my career. The experience was invaluable.”

As for the future, Lawrence is focused on evolving his career and maintaining his connection with his audience through his podcast and music. The entertainment industry continues to lure him back, and with fans nostalgic for the classic films of their youth, Lawrence’s story remains relevant. He adds, “I hope to inspire younger artists to follow their passions as I continue to pursue mine.”
