Matthieu Pavon Golf Pga Championship 2025

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Matthieu Pavon of France delivered an impressive performance during the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club on May 17, carding a 6-under 65.

Pavon, who is competing in his first major championship since 2019, expressed satisfaction with his round, citing early momentum with the putter as a key factor. “The last two days were pretty solid, but today was even better,” he said. “A few birdies on the front nine helped me to be more confident on the back nine.”

Discussing the challenges of the course, Pavon remarked on the difficulty of the closing holes known as the Green Mile. “They’re tough holes,” he stated. “You can make mistakes very fast.” He managed to navigate the challenging stretch without a bogey, earning him a solo second-place position at 6 under overall.

The leaderboard features Jhonattan Vegas leading at 10 under par after a round of 70, leaving Pavon two strokes behind. “Every chance you get to lead a major is never easy,” said Vegas, acknowledging the pressure that comes with the territory.

Pavon’s disciplined approach this week was on display as he discussed his preparation and mindset. “It’s all about getting a good mindset and sticking to a clear game plan,” he said. “I think the guy who’s going to do the best is the one who deals the best with challenges.”

Looking ahead to the weekend, Pavon remains focused on maintaining his performance. “I’ve played well here before, and it helps to know the strategy a little bit,” he noted. With the tournament heating up, he is eager to continue his strong play at Quail Hollow.
