Mattie Pruitt Auditions with Craig Campbell on American Idol

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Young singer Mattie Pruitt took the stage for her American Idol audition accompanied by country music star Craig Campbell, a longtime friend of judge Luke Bryan. The pivotal audition will air on March 23, 2025, as part of Season 23’s ongoing series of talent searches.
In an exclusive preview shared by TV Insider, host Ryan Seacrest identified Campbell as a key support for Pruitt, saying, “You brought a friendly old friend!” Campbell, known for his hit song “Keep Them Kisses Comin’”, shared his history with Bryan, stating, “I played piano for him before he got his record deal.”
The camaraderie was evident as Bryan reminisced in the audition room, noting the close connection their families share. “Craig and I, our children were born in the hospital… six days apart,” he remarked, with Campbell affirming the detail.
As the moment of truth arrived, Pruitt began to showcase her talent, performing a rendition of “How Could You.” With Campbell on piano, the 15-year-old demonstrated her vocal prowess, captivating the judges with her heartfelt performance.
