Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $90 Million Ahead of Tuesday Drawing

NEW YORK, NY — The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has jumped to an estimated $90 million ahead of the drawing scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, following no winner in the previous draw on May 2. If someone matches all six numbers, they can choose a one-time cash payment of approximately $40.8 million.
In 2025 alone, three lucky winners have already claimed the Mega Millions jackpot. The most recent winner took home a staggering $112 million, while another winner claimed $344 million on March 25.
The winning numbers for the upcoming drawing will be drawn shortly after 11 p.m. ET. Players can purchase tickets at various locations including convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores, or online in several states, including New York and New Jersey.
Tickets for the drawing cost $5, and players select six numbers: five from a pool of 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 24. Additionally, players can use options like “Quick Pick” for a randomly generated set of numbers.
New to the game, the built-in multiplier now allows non-jackpot prizes to increase by two to ten times without any added cost. Drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday, and the estimated jackpot for the next drawing is projected to grow to $100 million if no winner emerges.
Despite the growing jackpots, the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot remain steep, at approximately 1 in 290 million. Winners can choose between an annuity paid over 30 years or a lump-sum cash option, significantly smaller than the advertised jackpot.
As the excitement builds for the May 6 drawing, players are urged not to delay purchasing their tickets, with deadlines often as close as 15 minutes prior to the drawing time.
