Pittsburgh, PA – Megan McConnell has officially signed with the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, according to a report by Mike White from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. McConnell’s signing comes after a promising preseason with the team, during which she showcased her skills despite going undrafted in the recent WNBA Draft.

White noted on Twitter, “Another chapter to the McConnell family story. It just keeps going.” His statement came after McConnell’s brother, T.J. McConnell, and the Indiana Pacers secured a spot in the NBA Finals the previous night. Now, his sister Megan joins the professional ranks with the Mercury.

Before her signing, McConnell received a training camp invitation from the Mercury and participated in two preseason games. One highlight from her performance came when she hit a crucial three-pointer late in a preseason match, cutting a deficit against an opponent.

“Honestly, I couldn’t believe it when I got that call from my agent,” McConnell said in a press release from Duquesne University. “He said that Phoenix was excited about me and that they wanted to offer me to a training camp.” In her latest game, McConnell played just over 10 minutes, scoring three points and recording one assist.

As the Mercury face challenges with some key players injured, the addition of McConnell aims to strengthen their roster. The team currently holds a strong start this season, sitting tied for third place in the WNBA standings. Her chances to prove her skills will come soon as the Mercury prepares for upcoming games.

“I just can’t wait to go there and prove myself that I belong there,” McConnell added, expressing her excitement for her new journey.
