Memphis Weather Memorial Day Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – As Memorial Day weekend approaches, the Mid-South is set to experience a stretch of rain and warm temperatures. A storm system is moving into the region late tonight, bringing the first of several rounds of rain and thunderstorms expected through Tuesday.

Meteorologists at Severe Weather Center 13 anticipate that the waves may cause heavy rainfall and isolated strong storms. Although widespread severe weather is not expected, some storms could briefly become severe, with gusty winds and hail possible. Areas that experience repeated downpours could face localized flooding.

Rain totals are forecasted to reach between 2 and 4 inches in most areas, with some locations possibly nearing 5 inches. After Tuesday, weather conditions may improve, with drier conditions and warmer temperatures expected late in the week.

Currently in Memphis, temperatures are sitting around 66 degrees, with highs reaching the upper 70s. As the weekend progresses, conditions may lead to increased chances of storms, especially on Monday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as the weather develops. The FOX13 Memphis app can provide alerts for breaking news and weather in the area.

As the Mid-South enters the spring severe weather season, this forecast aligns with predictions for a warmer and wetter trend, compounding the region’s already turbulent weather patterns.
