Miami Injury Update: Three Starters Questionable for SMU Game

Miami Hurricanes Football Injury Report

Miami, Florida — The Miami Hurricanes may be without as many as three starting players for their game against the SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025. On Thursday, the team submitted an injury report indicating that all players were healthy. However, an update released on Friday night listed three starters as questionable: wide receiver C.J. Daniels, cornerback O.J. Frederique Jr., and defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr.

Daniels, who has 33 receptions for 351 yards and a team-high six touchdowns this season, plays a crucial role as a receiver. His absence could significantly impact Miami’s offensive strategy. With Daniels out, players like Tony Johnson, Joshua Moore, and Jojo Trader would need to step up alongside starting receiver Keelan Marion.

On the defensive side, losing Moten Sr. would create a substantial gap in the defensive line. He has become a key player, and if he is unavailable, Justin Scott and Donta Simpson will have to fill the void. Meanwhile, starting defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor, who missed last week’s game due to a leg injury, has not been listed on the injury report but is still a concern.

Frederique has also been a critical player in the secondary. If he cannot play, Miami has several options to replace him, including Ethan O’Connor and Xavier Lucas. The uncertainty surrounding these key positions raises questions about Miami’s readiness for their match against SMU.

The Hurricanes will face the Mustangs in Dallas at noon Eastern on Saturday. ESPN will broadcast the game live. As Miami navigates these injury concerns, the team’s performance will be closely monitored.
