ATLANTA, Georgia – UFC veteran Michael Chiesa shared his insights on Colby Covington‘s future in mixed martial arts, suggesting that Covington may be shifting his focus away from fighting.

During the UFC Atlanta media day on June 13, Chiesa reflected on Covington’s controversial reputation and his performance in recent fights. Chiesa, who is set to face Court McGee this weekend, mentioned that he had considered a matchup with Covington, but it seems unlikely at this point.

“I don’t know if I can really divulge much, but the powers at be liked the idea…I’ve kinda just given up on the idea of calling the guy out,” Chiesa said. “I think he’s going to go a different direction in his career, and I think being a streamer is what he’s pursuing right now. He doesn’t have the desire to compete as much as he did before.”

Chiesa acknowledged Covington’s talent but expressed disappointment over his potential departure from competition. “It’s his loss and the fans’ loss because he brings a lot of heat the way he builds his fights, and I have the style to beat him, but move on, it’s over,” he added.

Chiesa also offered a glimpse into Covington’s personality, stating, “He’s a nice guy off camera, dick on camera.”

As Chiesa prepares for his own fight, he remains focused on the present and not on Covington’s uncertain future.
