Michael Douglas and Son Star in Upcoming Family Drama Looking Through Water

LOS ANGELES, CA — Good Deed Entertainment has acquired the domestic rights to the family drama feature film Looking Through Water, starring Michael Douglas and his real-life son, Cameron Douglas. The film is set for a late summer theatrical release, according to an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter.
Directed by Roberto Sneider, the movie features a cast that includes Michael Stahl-David, Ximena Romo, and Tamara Tunie. The storyline centers around a father and son who attempt to reconnect by participating in a father-son fishing competition.
Sneider, known for Tear This Heart Out, directed the film from a script written by Rowdy Herrington, who directed the original Road House, and Zach Dean from Fast X. The project originates from Aeth Entertainment and is based on the novels Catching Big Fish and Looking Through Water by author Bob Rich, who also serves as an executive producer.
The producers of the film are Robert Mitas, Stan Spry, Carla Woods, and Eric Woods. Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard Segel from Storyboard Media executive produces and manages worldwide sales for the film. Costa de Beauregard Segel and Woods negotiated the film’s deal.
“With Good Deed and Storyboard Media on board, we’re excited to bring Looking Through Water to audiences — it’s a story of healing, forgiveness, and second chances, while the American pastime of fishing connects generations through water,” said Aeth Entertainment CEO Eric Woods.
Erik Donley, head of acquisitions and distribution for Good Deed Entertainment, commented, “We are honored to be teaming up with Aeth Entertainment and Storyboard Media to bring Looking Through Water to audiences in the U.S. later this summer.”
This film marks the second time Michael and Cameron Douglas have appeared together on screen. They previously starred in the 2003 film It Runs in the Family, alongside Michael’s late parents, Kirk and Diana Douglas. Michael Douglas was last seen in the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, while Cameron Douglas has appeared in the 2022 action movie Wire Room and the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room.
