Michigan to Experience Warm-Up Starting Friday, May 9

LANSING, Michigan — A warm weather trend is expected to begin on Friday, May 9, and last into next week, according to the latest weather forecast from MLive.
The forecast indicates that a northeast wind will make temperatures feel cold for much of the state. However, residents can look forward to afternoons that are generally predicted to be five degrees warmer each day from Friday through Tuesday.
“Mother’s Day looks nice with temperatures around 70 degrees,” a weather expert noted. “While there may be a slight breeze along the Lake Huron shoreline, the rest of the state should enjoy warmer weather.”
Starting next week, Michigan is expected to experience even warmer temperatures approaching the low 80s. Sunshine and dry conditions will help the state warm up, with the next chance of showers likely coming late Tuesday or Wednesday.
According to long-range forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), warmer-than-normal temperatures should continue to prevail at least until May 20. The average high temperature for southern Lower Michigan on that date is about 70 degrees, while northern Lower Michigan typically sees around 67 degrees, and the Upper Peninsula averages 63 degrees.
Despite this warming trend, it is important to remain realistic about the transition to summer weather in Michigan. Historically, cold fronts often move through the area during late May and early June, which can lead to temporary drops in temperature. Residents should be prepared for a few days with highs in the 60s or even 50s.
In summary, while Michigan may be marching toward summer-like conditions, cooler temperatures are still a possibility in the weeks to come.
