Michigan Football Secures Commitment from QB Tommy Carr
ANN ARBOR, Michigan — The Michigan Wolverines football team announced Sunday that they have secured a commitment from three-star quarterback Tommy Carr from Saline, flipping his previous commitment from Miami (Ohio). Carr, who stands at 6 feet 3.5 inches and weighs 195 pounds, joins the Wolverines as the first in-state prospect for the 2026 recruiting class.
Tommy Carr is not only a talented player but also comes from a distinguished football family. He is the brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr and the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, who led the team to a national championship.
During his senior season at Saline High School, Carr showcased his skills by completing 176 of 254 passes for 2,797 yards, achieving 37 touchdowns against five interceptions. He also added 300 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, leading his team to an impressive 8-1 regular season record.
In a recent scouting report, 247Sports analyst Hudson Standish praised Carr’s athleticism, noting that his movement patterns on the field translate well from basketball to football. “Physically gifted signal-caller,” Standish stated, highlighting Carr’s above-average arm talent and ability to deliver precise throws under pressure.
Carr now becomes the second quarterback to commit to Michigan for their 2026 class, joining four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, who is recovering from a torn ACL. The Wolverines see Carr’s commitment as a way to deepen their quarterback lineup amid critical injuries.
Widely regarded as the No. 18 recruit in Michigan and the No. 49 quarterback nationally, Carr held eight offers from various programs, solidifying his status as a high-profile recruit. Michigan hopes that his in-state ties and family legacy will further strengthen their recruiting efforts.
Carr’s commitment brings the Wolverines’ recruiting class total to 26 commits with National Signing Day approaching. As Michigan continues to build its future, fans are eager to see how Carr’s talents will shape the team’s prospects.
