Mikey Madison Debuts as ‘SNL’ Host Amid 50th Season Excitement

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — “Saturday Night Live” returns with a brand new episode on March 29, 2025, featuring actress Mikey Madison making her hosting debut just weeks after winning an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in “Anora.” The episode will also showcase country music star Morgan Wallen as the musical guest.
After a brief two-week hiatus, “SNL” brings fresh content to fans with Madison at the helm. Madison’s notable film credits include her recent turn in “Anora,” alongside her roles in the series “Better Things” and the film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” In her opening monologue, Madison expressed her excitement about the opportunity, stating, “This means the world to me, especially after winning the Oscar.”
Country singer Morgan Wallen will grace the “SNL” stage for the second time. Wallen’s previous appearance was during Season 46 in 2020, where he performed hits like “7 Summers” and “Still Goin’ Down.” Ahead of tonight’s performance, Wallen dropped two new singles, “I’m A Little Crazy” and “Just in Case,” ahead of his upcoming album, “I’m the Problem,” scheduled for release on May 16, 2025.
Tonight’s episode is generating buzz due to Madison’s recent Oscar win, a notable achievement for the young actress. Madison commented on her role in a recent interview, saying, “The character of Anora was a challenging and rewarding experience that pushed me to new heights as an actor.” Her performance has been praised across the industry, contributing to her rising star status.
Fans of “SNL” can expect a mix of comedy and music, with Wallen’s set likely to include tracks from his new album. The country artist created a buzz when he was previously dropped from an episode in 2020 due to COVID-19 protocol violations, and he is now excited to make a memorable return.
In a promotional segment aired prior to the episode, Wallen and Madison appeared with cast member Chloe Fineman, discussing the charm of New York City, with levity surrounding the city’s urban quirks. “The rats are biting, but that’s the Big Apple for you!” Madison joked. Wallen commented on the vibrancy of the city, saying, “It’s springtime in New York, and it’s hard not to fall in love with it.”
Following Madison’s debut, upcoming episodes in the 50th season include comedian Jack Black hosting on April 5, with musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile, and Jon Hamm taking the stage on April 12 with Lizzo as the musical performer.
“Saturday Night Live” has had a strong 50th season, reuniting many popular past hosts and musical guests. This season has seen a variety of acclaimed figures on the show, including Lady Gaga, Shane Gillis, and comedian Timothée Chalamet, who have all contributed to the series’ legacy.
Viewers can catch “SNL” Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. on NBC or stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
