Mild November Weather Continues in Chicago This Week
CHICAGO – Mild November weather is expected to continue throughout the work week. Meteorologist Mike Caplan from FOX 32 reported that today will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny, with highs reaching the lower 60s. Winds will be calmer than yesterday, but are expected to pick up tonight and into tomorrow.
Tonight, temperatures will barely drop through the 50s, which is closer to the normal high for this time of year. Tomorrow is likely to be our third consecutive day with temperatures above 60 degrees, featuring a mixture of clouds and sun along with wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
A storm system is approaching on Thursday, but the day will remain dry with highs in the mid to upper 50s. However, showers and some embedded thunder are likely Thursday night into Friday morning. After the showers pass on Friday morning, expect breezy and mild conditions with afternoon highs in the lower 60s.
Looking ahead, another storm system is forecasted to arrive over the weekend, likely starting Saturday afternoon, bringing potential showers and high temperatures in the lower 50s. Colder air will sweep in on Sunday, with precipitation expected to clear out before the Chicago Bears game that day.
There is speculation about possible snow on Sunday or Monday. The U.S. model has scaled back previous snowfall predictions, while the European model indicates no accumulating snow in Chicago but does predict lake-effect snow in parts of Michiana Sunday night into Monday.
The National Weather Service has noted elevated fire danger for Monday due to dry vegetation and northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph. Temperatures this week include a high of 61 degrees on Monday, 64 on Tuesday, 67 on Wednesday, and 62 on Thursday.
While many residents are wondering about the chance of snow, the forecast shows no significant snowfall this week. Typically, the first measurable snowfall in Chicago occurs around November 18, while a trace of snow can be expected by October 31.
