Los Angeles, CA — Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Netflix‘s popular series “Stranger Things,” recently spoke out about the implications of her salary contracts leaking online, in a cover story for Vanity Fair. Brown’s revelations come after reports surfaced in July 2022 indicating she was set to earn $10 million for starring in and producing “Enola Holmes 2,” potentially making her the highest-paid actor under 20 years old.
In her interview, the 20-year-old actress did not confirm or deny the reported figures but emphasized the risks associated with making such contracts public. “Contracts I signed as a teen should never have leaked online and should have been protected so they’re not on the record,” Brown expressed.
Brown further explained the broader issues that arise when financial details of young actors are exposed. “It just puts children in a really dangerous situation,” she said. The young star, who has received widespread attention since she was only 11, highlighted the often-overlooked pressures on child actors within the entertainment industry.
She credits her parents for advocating for her, stating, “I grew up with a lot of eyes on my parents, but I feel that those were the people who protected me the most.” Brown discussed the importance of learning the power of saying ‘no’ from a young age, which she believes is crucial for young performers navigating the industry.
Referring to the pressures of fame, she said, “I don’t allow many people into my life, and when I do, I think it should be super moderated.” Brown opened up about the impact of early stardom on her mental health, underscoring how constant media scrutiny has affected her social connections.
Brown also recounted a troubling incident from her youth when paparazzi breached her privacy. At age 13, a photographer infiltrated a fashion shoot in Australia, capturing invasive images of her. “I didn’t have nothing [on underneath]… It wasn’t too much, but it was enough for it not to be okay,” she said. This experience prompted her to advocate for stronger laws protecting young individuals from media exploitation.
Looking ahead, Brown is set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming film “The Electric State,” featuring Chris Pratt, which will be available for streaming on March 14. As she continues her career, Brown remains committed to discussions surrounding the well-being of young actors in Hollywood.
